It has happened. Again. As you all have heard, someone felt the need to massacre people at a learning center in the good ole Land of the Free. Now, if we have a close look, there is someone besides the gunman to blame here. Lets blame America generally.
Now as some of you may have heard, his lordship and grandmaster of Earth George Bush (hereafter known as Walker, Texas Ranger) has informed the American public (via a spokesperson) that all Americans have the right to bear arms and that won't be changing. Now, I'm no expert at human social behaviour, but after 33 people die (inc. the gunman) in another massacre it seems that the time has come for Americans to remove the stick from their giant arses and accept that guns need to become harder to attain.
Now we all know that people do not want to lose what they already have. It's human nature. However I think that we need to weigh up the options for ye old Americans. Either we allow mr and mrs Joe blow American to continue to tote guns for no particular reason, or innocent people are slaughtered. Guns are a small price to pay for the lives of the innocent
Now we all know that the NRA and the government don't want guns gone. But the bill of rights states the arms bearing law incase the English ever came over to the USA and tried to take over. And even then it was talking about militia for defence, not pistols for people who want them so they appear cool.
And some may say that guns dont kill people, people kill people. Maybe. But if i move my finger over the trigger of a gun, i kill someone. Same action without a gun, there is no death. Seems as if the gun is slightly important in the killing people equation. Im not saying that people are not to blame. But we need to make sure that this does not happen again, and maybe we do that by restricting the access to guns.
Well, that wasn't as thought out as my rants usually are. Nor was it as offensive. Oh well.

Just so you know, it's pretty much impossible to change the American gun laws. It's in their bill of rights, as we all know, which is a part of their constitution. The second ammendment to it.
Now I'm not overly familiar with how to change the American constitution, but if it's anything like ours, it's bloody near impossible.
Now that that's out of the way, onto the rest of it. Certainly I don't like the idea of any Joe Shmoe able to get his hands of a gun, but that really isn't the problem. It's a side factor that needs to be considered, but focussing on it is avoiding the real problem.
Unfortunately, you were right, American society is the largest factor in this, and the fuckwads that it produces. The problem with that is, how the fuck are you supposed to change it?
Personally, I think people should be looking at the killer, at the life he lived, at the circumstances that led him to his actions, and not just the immediate ones, his entire upbringing. We'll find a lot more there to help us address the problem than we will in bitching because of guns.
It is not as if Australia, with our extremely tight gun laws is exempt from similar issues.
I heard about something at Monash University recently? Although it was clearly not as extreme.
Thus, the problem lies deep within the nature of man in his complexity, his society and his environment.
it's an inbuilt american attitude if you ask me, but in asking me you're talking to someone who doesn't think wonderful thins about most of america.
this is most likely due to my father beingin texas every now and again for work, and it seems jut like the most subtle-y repulsive place to live.
in part they keep their homes unlocked, but still have guns? i just don't get it!
